Extra Curricular Activities

Canoga Park Lutheran School offers a variety of extra curricular activities to its students. Among these may be opportunities to participate in choir, instrumental music, gymnastics, foreign language, student government, drama, arts & crafts, and sports.

After school programs are offered by outside companies such as Performing Arts Workshop, Cutting Edge Enrichment, and Mad Science. The fees for these programs vary depending upon the number of scheduled classes. Flyers are sent home with Cougar Talk with information about each class and a sign up tear off. Payments go directly to the companies running each program.

Sports

Canoga Park Lutheran School has an inter-school athletic program which is open to students in grades 5 through 8. Teams from CPLS compete in the Valley Christian Athletic League with teams from other Christian schools. Coaches are trained to understand the psychological and physical level of the players. Chapel

A student chapel service is held in the church sanctuary each Wednesday morning at 8:05 a.m. unless otherwise indicated. Parents are invited and encouraged to worship with their children. The offering at each service is designated for a special mission project. Students are encouraged to dress in a manner appropriate for a worship service.

Church and Sunday School Attendance

Since the religious instruction and program of our school are an integral part of congregational life, we encourage all pupils to attend worship services regularly and faithfully. Parents are strongly urged to attend worship service each Sunday at their respective church with their children. Teacher's keep a record of each child's Sunday School and church attendance. This is recorded on the regular report card to remind parents of their child's worship record.

Youth Program

Canoga Park Lutheran Church sponsors youth programs for Middle School (YAC) and High School (LYF) youth from our church and school. Students in these groups participate in activities based on fun, service and Christian growth. Handbell Choir (Chapel Ringers)

All students in Middle School are eligible for this voluntary choir. Rehearsals begin the first week of school at which time a performing schedule is given each student for the first half of the school year. Performances take place approximately once a month in Canoga Park Lutheran Church worship services and will occasionally include special events. Ringers must maintain academic eligibility
